An “NFA item” refers to a firearm or firearm accessory that is regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA), which means it requires specific legal steps to purchase, own, and transfer, including registration with the government and obtaining a tax stamp; common examples of NFA items include machine guns, silencers, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns.

ATF Eforms Account Instructions

To finish your NFA purchase and complete your ATF Form 4, you will need an ATF Eforms account using the same email address as your Silencer Shop account. If you do not have an account use the instructions below to create one.

To create an account:

On your computer, visit https://eforms.atf.gov/
Click the green “Register” buttonFill out the registration form using the same email and phone as your Silencer Shop account.
When you get down to PIN, create a 4 digit PIN and write it down – you will need it in the certification process.
After creating the account, click on the “My Profile” tab.
Make note of the username, which is 6 characters of your name then 5 random numbers. For example Mr. Johnny Silencer’s username would be something like JSILEN98765. Also note that this is different from the email address “username” that you use to log into eforms.

If you already have an account:

Visit https://eforms.atf.gov/ and log in.
Click the “My Profile” tab.
Make note of the username, which is 6 characters of your name then 5 random numbers. For example Mr. Johnny Silencer’s username would be something like JSILEN98765. Also note that this is different from the email address “username” that you use to log into eforms.
If you know your 4-digit PIN, then all good. If not, click on the “Password/PIN/Security” tab and scroll down to “Forgotten PIN”. Follow the instructions to create a new PIN and write it down.
